There are numerous ongoing and emerging projects in the Intermountain West related to decarbonization—as part of its assessment of the regional energy landscape, I-WEST is curating a catalog of these initiatives. The projects are categorized by technology pathway and reflect various stages of technology readiness, from research and development to full deployment and scale-up.
Building this project catalog is an important step toward meeting I-WEST objectives to better understand the opportunities and challenges project leaders are facing—from growing new industries, to energy-related policies, to workforce and economic impacts, to technology gaps. Many of these projects have been represented at I-WEST workshops, where project leaders and stakeholders provided valuable input that will help inform the I-WEST technology roadmap.
